Meeting SAP’s deadline is half the job. The other half is your people
By the end of 2027 your S/4HANA system has to be live. By the same date, thousands of people have to actually work in it. Most programs plan the first deadline obsessively — and forget the second until it’s too late.

of the top barriers to S/4HANA are human, not technical
A technically flawless go-live can still fail. When people don’t adopt the new system, they quietly rebuild the old one — in spreadsheets, workarounds and shadow processes. That’s not a migration. That’s an expensive new login screen.
Our SAP experience
The people side of SAP is all we do
Methodix is an ERP change management consultancy — not a technical SAP partner — and that focus is the point. We’ve led the adoption and change workstream of enterprise transformations across SAP, Oracle and UKG, embedded inside client teams alongside their system integrators.
From the first readiness assessment to the last day of hypercare, we own the work that decides whether your SAP program delivers its business case: aligning leaders, communicating with purpose, enabling people, and proving adoption with real metrics.
It’s the bridge between a go-live date and a return on investment — and walking people across it is exactly what we do.

Where migrations actually break
The biggest barriers to S/4HANA aren’t technical
When organizations already live on S/4HANA were asked what made migration hardest, the answers weren’t about servers or code. The top barriers were about process and people.
You can buy your way past a technical problem. You can’t buy your way past a workforce that doesn’t want to change — you have to lead them through it.
The human side of go-live
Every user goes through the change curve
Productivity always dips when people are asked to work differently. The question isn’t whether the dip happens — it’s how deep it goes and how fast they recover.
Methodix's work is to make that dip shallower and shorter — moving people from resistance to commitment, deliberately, instead of leaving it to chance.
How to prepare — starting now
Plan the people side with the same rigour as the migration
The change workstream isn’t something you bolt on before go-live. It runs the full length of the program. Here’s the path — and why each phase only works if you start it early.
Phase 1 · Now
2026 — before build starts
Assess & align
- Baseline change readiness across the business
- Map every impacted role, team and process
- Secure visible, committed executive sponsorship
- Define what “adoption” means — in numbers
Phase 2 · During build
Design & build
Engage & enable
- Audience-specific communication that earns trust
- Build a super-user / champion network
- Design role-based training around real tasks
- Surface resistance early — and address it
Phase 3 · Go-live & beyond
Cutover → hypercare → sustain
Adopt & sustain
- Confidence checks before the switch is flipped
- Embedded floor-walking and reinforcement
- Track adoption KPIs and act on the gaps
- Hand the change capability over to your team
The cost of leaving it late
Same system. Two very different outcomes.
The difference between a migration that delivers and one that disappoints is rarely the technology. It’s whether the people side was planned — or improvised.
Change as an afterthought
“We’ll do training before go-live.”
- Users default to old habits and workarounds
- Hypercare drags on as tickets pile up
- Shadow spreadsheets quietly undermine the data
- Leadership questions the ROI of the whole program
- The business case slips further away every month
Change planned from day one
“Adoption is a workstream, not an event.”
- People are ready and confident at go-live
- Hypercare is shorter and calmer
- The new processes actually get used
- Adoption is measured, so gaps get fixed fast
- The investment starts paying back sooner

user adoption when structured change management starts early — SAP change benchmarks
Two deadlines, one date
Your SAP program is really two races
One is technical: configure, migrate, test, cut over. It has a project plan, a budget and a steering committee watching every milestone.
The other is human: align leaders, prepare people, build skills, earn adoption. It runs to the exact same date — but it’s usually under-resourced, started late, and treated as “training at the end.”
Both finish on 31 December 2027. Only one of them is usually planned.

The adoption workstream
What Methodix delivers on an SAP program
A people-side delivery track that runs in parallel with your technical build — owned end to end by senior consultants.
Change readiness assessment
A clear-eyed baseline of where your people are before build begins — so you plan for the real starting point, not an assumed one.
Stakeholder & sponsor alignment
We map every impacted group and equip sponsors to lead visibly, keeping leadership aligned through each phase of the change curve.
Communication that resonates
Messaging built around what the change actually threatens for each audience — not relentless positivity people stop believing.
Role-based training & super-users
Training designed around real SAP roles and tasks, delivered through champion networks so capability stays inside your organization.
Adoption measurement
Clear adoption KPIs tracked from go-live, so reinforcement targets the teams and processes that actually need it.
Hypercare & reinforcement
Embedded support after go-live to turn early friction into confidence and shorten the path to a stable steady state.
Complementary, not competing
We don’t replace your system integrator
Methodix is not a technical SAP partner. We co-lead the people side of the transformation alongside your implementation team — so adoption, readiness and engagement keep pace with the technical build.
One program. Two workstreams. Shared outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the SAP 2027 deadline?
SAP has confirmed that mainstream maintenance for SAP ECC ends on 31 December 2027, with no further extension. After that, organisations must move to S/4HANA, buy paid extended maintenance as a temporary bridge to 2030, or run on unsupported software. Because complex migrations often take 18–36 months, 2026 is widely seen as the last realistic window to start.
Why is change management as urgent as the migration itself?
When should we start the people side of an S/4HANA program?
Now — before build begins. Early engagement lets you baseline readiness, map impacts, and secure sponsorship while there’s still time to act on what you find. SAP change benchmarks indicate that organizations investing early in structured change management see materially faster user adoption and fewer stabilisation issues after go-live.
Does Methodix implement or migrate SAP?
No. Methodix does not configure, build or migrate SAP. We own the change management and adoption workstream — readiness, stakeholder alignment, communication, training and adoption measurement — working alongside your system integrator or internal SAP team so the people side keeps pace with the technical delivery.
What does “good” adoption actually look like?
It means people using the new processes as designed — not reverting to spreadsheets or workarounds. We define adoption KPIs tied to your business case (usage, process compliance, training completion, support-ticket trends) and track them from go-live, so reinforcement is targeted where it’s needed rather than spread thin.
Do you only work on SAP?
SAP and S/4HANA are a core focus, but the same adoption methodology applies to Oracle, UKG and other enterprise platforms. The people side of transformation is consistent across systems.
The deadline won’t move. Your adoption plan can’t wait.
Every month you delay the people side is a month you can’t get back before 2027. Let’s map your SAP adoption workstream while there’s still time to do it properly.
